BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for Week 36 finally showed a sign of a slow up in production down by approximately 64,000 cartons on the week prior with a total harvest of just over 492,000 for the week. Temperatures in the far north varied greatly for the early A.M. falling within a range of 10.8 - 20.1C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures were definitely warming up ranging 23.8 - 30.7C, regardless to say, the slight slowing in production this week is not expected to an an ongoing issue. North Qld banana growing regions experienced another relatively dry week on the Tablelands with falls as follows: Mareeba receiving 1.8mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 0.8mm; and the coastal regions only saw a better fall with Innisfail receiving a total of 9.0mm and South Johnston totaling 17.2mm across the week.
Banana displays are continuing to exhibit a mix of fruit bloom and a continued presence of light skin marking, bat/bird marking, thrip damage, sap staining as well as light neck creasing viewed in some displays etc .
Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50-$4.90/kg depending upon location; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50-$4.90/kg depending upon store location.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 36, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 446,418 tray equivalents, approximately 20,000 more than the previous week. The quantity of bulks/processing/other volume has remained steady at just over 60,000 tray equivalents which leaves 386,000 trays (mix of premium and class one) for supermarket and market sales - so whilst somewhat of an improvement in volume compared to last week, this is as a direct result of Central NSW and more importantly a greater number of growers from the Tristates region commencing their seasons.
Production across the country saw Central NSW’s level of production take the lead in harvest volumes with 22.73% of total production; Tristate taking second spot this week with 20.17%; then NZ for 19.86%; then WA/NT accounting for 17.55% of the national production followed next by a growing contribution from Southern QLD for 10.41%; and Northern QLD for 5.41%; TNR for 1.96%; Central QLD for 1.12%; and Sunshine Coast accounting for 0.79% of the total production for the week. Note, as evidenced by this week’s reduced available quantity of bulks/processing/other volumes, when we swap over to new regions of supply, as we have there is a slowing of available quantities of smaller fruit used in the prepacks for a couple of weeks.
It is forecast that a total of some 405,527 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 37) nationally, with the majority of these being Hass! Total avocado production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within a somewhat lower range of 441K-471K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing as follows - Aldi with Hass retailing at $2.19ea this week whilst GMAX were at $2.49 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at $2.00ea-$2.50ea; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $2.50ea and Gmax Avo for $2.90/piece (if available).
