BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
Thanks for helping us celebrate the nation’s most popular fruit…
National Banana transport figures for Week 40 were ever so slightly up on last week by just over 2000 cartons to a total of 453000 cartons. Temperatures in the far north varied greatly for the early A.M. falling within a range of 12.6 - 19.4C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures were moderate this week ranging 23.0 - 29.1C. North Qld banana growing regions experienced another relatively dry week on the Tablelands with falls as follows: Mareeba receiving 0.6mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 2.5mm; and the coastal regions experienced moderate falls with Innisfail receiving a total of 26.2mm and South Johnston totaling 30.6mm across the week.
This week we found Banana displays to be improving in bloom with primarily bright fruit on most displays though there is still a percentage of duller fruit in some outlets, There is a continued presence of light skin marking, bat/bird marking, thrip damage, sap staining being viewed in some displays .
With National Banana Day celebrations we saw all retailers offering our national favourite fruit at great value. Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $3.79/kg whilst Aldi NSW were at $3.69/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $3.90/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $3.90/kg.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 40, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 455,283 tray equivalents, which is down on the previous week by approx 6,000 trays.
Production across the country saw NZ’s level of production take the lead in harvest volumes with 30.75% of total production; WA/NT fell to second spot this week with 22.44%; then Central NSW for 22.20%; then Tristate accounting for 14.50% of the national production followed next by Southern QLD accounting for 6.72%; North QLD for 1.81%; TNR for 0.94%; and Sunshine Coast accounting for 0.64% of the total production for the week.
It is forecast that a total of some 392,759 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 41) nationally, with majority of trays being Hass! Total avocado production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within a somewhat lower range of 367K-413K tray equivalents per week, so if accurate in the ensuing weeks we may see fruit pricing rise. Fruit quality is generally good across the board though we are seeing fruit out of the Tristates region currently showing a presence of a little nodule damage due to high winds experienced in on western side of orchards during growth.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing as follows - Aldi with Hass retailing at $2.59ea this week; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at $2.50-$2.70ea depending upon store location; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $2.50- $2.70ea depending upon store location.
