BANANA OVERVIEW

🍌SUPPLY UPDATE

National Banana transport figures for week 22 were approximately 463,000 cartons which is a slight increase of almost 5000 cartons on Week 21. Temperatures in the far north have seen early A.M. temperatures fall within a range of 15.6 - 19.7C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 25.9 - 31.5C. Rainfall in North Qld banana growing regions this week was as follows: Mareeba receiving 0mm for the week; and Innisfail receiving a total of a 2mm. Again light rainfall which is making things a little easier on farm.

Banana Quality was better than last week, minimal skin marking; light rub and some dull fruit but on the whole a good show.

Retail ticket pricing in Queensland for cavendish bananas were realatively stabe as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50/kg in the stores visited.

🥑SUPPLY UPDATE

In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:

· Week 22, 2025 - The industry experienced an overall 4.39% decrease in production on the previous week’s harvest with this weeks total of 522,116 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 24,000 less tray equivalents) on Week 21, 2025 production.

Production across the country saw NQ still confidently leading in production - accounting for 57.68% of the total volume, followed by Central Queensland accounting for 38.83%, then Southern Queensland for just 2.29%, then Central NSW for just 0.98% and finally Sunshine Coast for 0.22% of the total production for the week.

· It is forecast that a total of some 449,000 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 23) nationally, with the majority of these being Hass!! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 397K-459K tray equivalents per week.

In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week we saw fundamentally a uniform offering in terms of pricing this week as follows - Aldi’s Hass at $1.49each (Aldi Super Savers); Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos priced at $1.50ea, and Woolworths Qld with GMAX at $2.90ea and Hass at $1.50ea.
