BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for week 37 were just over 498,000 cartons which is an increase of 25,739 cartons on the week prior. Temperatures in the far north have been milder this week with early A.M. temperatures falling within a range of 12.9 - 22.5C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 24.5 - 29.5C. Rainfall in North Qld banana growing regions this week were rather scant on the Tablelands with recordings as follows: Mareeba receiving `0mm for the week and Walkamin with 0.6mm; with the coastal regions also having minimal falls - Innisfail receiving a total of a 9.2mm and South Johnston receiving 12.4mm throughout the week. Our banana production has slowed marginally after having had great volumes right throughout winter but it is only expected to be a temporary set back with an approximate reduction in volume of 10-15% affecting the next two -three week period. If the weather continues to warm up quickly, this may be reduced as bunch size will increase more rapidly.
Banana skin colour was found to be a little backward in a number of stores visited this week; bloom also varied across displays, noted a little bat/bird marking and light sooty mould present in a few displays.
Retail ticket pricing in Queensland for cavendish bananas were as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50-$4.90/kg depending upon location; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50-$4.90/kg in the stores visited depending upon location.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
· Week 37, 2025 - The industry experienced a marginal overall 0.45% increase in production on the previous week’s harvest with this weeks total of 446,093 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 2,000 more tray equivalents) on Week 36, 2025 production. Breaking this figure down saw 89K tray equivalents being utilized for bulks/processing; another 83K exported leaving almost 273K tray equivalents for the domestic market. The increase in the volume of fruit heading to prepacking/food service is testament to increasing volumes of small fruit on the market.
Production across the country saw WA/NT growing the lead - accounting for 39.58% of the national production, followed by Tristate accounting for 27.34% ; whilst Central NSW accounted for 18.47%, Southern Queensland for 10.22%, TNR for 1.97%, NZ for 2.26%, North Queensland for 0.13%, and Sunshine Coast for 0.02% of the total production for the week. WA harvest is expected to start ramp up further in another two to three weeks. Talking with our growers located in both SE Qld and in the Tristates Regions have another 2-3 weeks of their 2025 hass harvest until they complete their growing season before we transition across to our WA supply base in earnest.
· It is forecast that a total of some 388,000 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 38) nationally, with the majority of these of course being Hass! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 420K-450K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing remain fairly stable ie - Aldi’s Hass at $1.69each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos on promo at 2 for $3.50 and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $1.70ea.
