National Banana transport figures for week 42 are on their way. Temperatures in the far north are similar to be last week with early A.M. temperatures falling within a range of 15.5 - 23.1C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 28.1 - 32.4C, that top end is definitely creeping up!! North Qld banana growing regions rain fall was as follows for the week: Mareeba receiving 0.4mm for the week and Walkamin with 1.0mm; with the coastal regions also experienced a few showers - Innisfail receiving a total of a 10.4mm and South Johnston receiving 14.2mm throughout the week.

Banana skin colour was found to be a little backward in a number of stores visited this week; bloom also varied across displays, noted a little sap staining and light skin marking present in a few displays.

Retail ticket pricing in Queensland for cavendish bananas found as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50/kg.

In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:

· Week 42, 2025 - The industry experienced an overall 18.95% increase in production on the previous week’s harvest with this weeks total of 678,084 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 130,000 more tray equivalents) on Week 41, 2025 production.

Production across the country saw WA/NT growing the lead - accounting for 79.60% of the national production, followed by Tristate accounting for 7.18% ; NZ for 6.50%, Central NSW for 4.86%, Southern Queensland for 1.10% and TNR for 0.76% of the total production for the week.

· It is forecast that a total of some 525,000 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 43) nationally, with the majority of these of course being Hass! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 480K-552K tray equivalents per week.

In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing remain fairly stable ie - Aldi’s Hass at $1.49each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos on promo at 2 for $3.00ea; whilst Woolworths were retailing Hass at $1.50-1.80ea.
