National Banana transport figures for Week 6 were back to above 500,000 ctns in fact up to 518,000 which was 7.6% more than what was harvested and transported in Week 5. Temperatures in the far north are similar to be last week with early A.M. temperatures falling within a range of 20.8 - 24.8C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 28.0- 32.9C with high humidity. North Qld banana growing regions experienced further rainfalls associated with the traditional wet season: whilst Mareeba received only 9.6mm for the week to date; and Walkamin with 4.8mm; the coastal regions like Innisfail with falls totaling 198mm and South Johnston totaling 221.6mm received a drenching across the week!

Banana displays varied across stores visited, light skin marking and bruising present, thrip damage, rust marking - there were definitely some better displays.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW

🥑SUPPLY UPDATE

In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows

Week 6, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 732,667 tray equivalents, approximately 84,000 more than the previous week. It should be noted that 21.4% of this total is in the form of bulks for prepacks; fruit for processing and food service ie almost 157,000 tray equivalents leaving approximately 575,000 for domestic consumption and export.

Production across the country saw WA/NT (Hass) maintaining the lead in terms of production - accounting for 80.02% of the national production, followed by North Queensland accounting for 18.71% (Shepards) ; Central NSW accounting for 0.81%; New Zealand accounting for 0.26% (Hass); and Tristate for 0.20% (Reeds+ other) of the total production for the week.

It is forecast that a total of some 633,911 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 7) nationally, with the majority of these of course still being Hass, but have no doubt the Shepards season has started and will continue to build! Total production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 510K-654K tray equivalents per week.
