National Banana transport figures for Week 7 were back to 481,000 ctns which was 7.1% less than what was harvested and transported in Week 6. Temperatures in the far north are similar to be last week with early A.M. temperatures falling within a range of 20.8 - 26.1C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 28.5- 35.6C with high humidity. North Qld banana growing regions experienced further rainfalls associated with the traditional wet season, somewhat heavier than the previous week with Mareeba receiving 120mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 132.8mm; the coastal regions like Innisfail had falls totaling 83.4mm and South Johnston totaling 97.6mm across the week!
Banana displays varied across stores visited, light skin marking and bruising present, thrip damage, rust marking - there were definitely some better displays.
Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg depending upon store location; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.90/kg by tickets on display.

🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 7, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 641,343 tray equivalents, approximately 90,000 less than the previous week.
Production across the country saw WA/NT (Hass) maintaining the lead in terms of production - accounting for 72.29% of the national production, followed by North Queensland accounting for 26.69% (Shepards) ; Central NSW accounting for 0.81%; New Zealand accounting for 0.26% (Hass); and Tristate for 0.21% (Reeds+ other) of the total production for the week.
It is forecast that a total of some 599,547 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 8) nationally, with the majority of these of course still being Hass, but have no doubt the Shepards are continuing to build with respects to volume! Total production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 531K-671K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw hass pricing as follows - Aldi’s Hass at $1.99 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at 2 for $3.50; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $1.90ea.

Prepacks: 1kg I’m Perfect packs at $7.00ea. Multiple packs had individual fruits from various growers with different fruit stickers on the fruit, some grown by Delroys' + others. 5 Pack priced at $7.50/bag but no stock on display.

Prepacks: 5 piece packs at $7.50ea but no stock on display. 1kg packs at $7.00ea contained a mix of WA Hass - individual fruit pieces within the bags had fruit stickers on them and indicated supplied by different growers including Delroy’s + others.
