🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for Week 21 were just over 509,000 cartons which saw an increase of a little over 8,000 cartons on the week prior. Temperatures in the far north have been a touch cooler in the mornings but similar day time temps to last week with early A.M. temperatures falling within a range of 11.0 - 18.6C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 23.1 - 29.4C. North Qld banana growing regions experienced a drier week which has been great with only falls as follows: Mareeba receiving 0mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 0.8mm; the coastal regions still had more significant falls this week with Innisfail receiving a total of 1.6mm and South Johnston totaling 0.4mm across the week.
We continue to see the impact of the wet weather throughout a number of Banana displays with a continued presence of sooty/blotchy mould present, a mix of bloom with a presence of somewhat dull fruit though this had improved this week, light skin marking, thrip damage, sap staining etc - we are hoping the drier weather this week will be continued which should see an improvement on some of these occurrences .
Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.30-$4.80/kg depending upon store location.

🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 21, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 481,326 tray equivalents, approximately 26,000 more than the previous week.
Production across the country saw North Queensland maintain the lead with 62.79% of production with the principal variety now being suppled being hass; Central Queensland accounting for 34.98% of the national production followed next; then Central NSW for 0.65%; then Sunshine Coast for 0.62%; then Southern Queensland for 0.43%; then WA/NT for 0.42% and TNR for 0.11% of the total production for the week.
It is forecast that a total of some 480,505 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 22) nationally, with the majority of these now being Hass! Total avocado production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within a similar range of 477K-516K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing as follows - Aldi had Hass at $1.99 each and GMAX at $2.49 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at $2.50 each; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $2.00 -$2.20 each depending upon store location- also some Woolworths stores also had the Gmax Avo for $2.90/piece.
