How are we almost half way through August?!
BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for Week 32 were down on the previous week by approximately 16,600 cartons with a total of 501,559 cartons harvested. Temperatures in the far north remain cooler with temps for last week early A.M. falling within a range of 11.3 - 18.9C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 23.0 - 31.6C. North Qld banana growing regions experienced another relatively dry week on the Tablelands with falls as follows: Mareeba receiving 0mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 0.5mm; and the coastal regions only saw slightly more rain this week with Innisfail receiving a total of 1.8mm and South Johnston totaling 3.2mm across the week. Our own Cavendish banana farms have a plentiful supply of harvestable fruit currently, so let us know if you need a load or two! Unfortunately, it will still be a couple more weeks until our ladyfingers increase in quantities.
Banana displays are exhibiting a mix of fruit bloom and a continued presence of light skin marking, thrip damage, sap staining and light neck damage in some displays etc .
Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50-4.90/kg.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 32, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 447,426 tray equivalents, approximately 87,000 less than the previous week. Interesting, the quantity of bulks/processing/other volume has remained rather steady at just over 93,000 tray equivalents which leaves 354,000 trays (mix of premium and class one) for supermarket and market sales. Forecasts for the next few weeks are in a similar range so supplies may tighten a little as both NQ and Central Qld seasons will be coming to a close. Our own farms in NQ are expected to be completed their 2026 Hass harvest in another two weeks.
Production across the country saw Central Queensland’s level of production take back the lead in harvest volumes with 31.46% of total production; Northern Queensland accounting for 28.64% of the national production followed next by a growing contribution from Central NSW for 13.31%; and Southern QLD for 13.18%; WA/NT for 6.28%; NZ for 3.93%; TNR for 1.85% and finally Sunshine Coast for 1.34% of the total production for the week.
It is forecast that a total of some 505,001 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 33) nationally, with the majority of these being Hass! Total avocado production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within a somewhat lower range of 433K-470K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing as follows - Aldi with Hass retailing at $1.49-1.79ea whilst GMAX were at $2.49 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at 2 for $4.00; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $1.80ea and Gmax Avo for $2.90/piece.
