BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for Week 34 had not been received at the time of releasing this newsletter, so I will be sure to send through the figures next week. Temperatures in the far north remain cooler with temps for last week early A.M. falling within a range of 12.5 - 18.3C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures just starting to heat up a little ranging 22.0 - 27.1C. North Qld banana growing regions experienced another relatively dry week on the Tablelands with falls as follows: Mareeba receiving 1.2mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 4.2mm; and the coastal regions only saw slightly more rain this week with Innisfail receiving a total of 37.8mm and South Johnston totaling 39.0mm across the week. These falls have been welcomed after a number of drier weeks in the last couple of months.
Banana displays are continuing to exhibit a mix of fruit bloom and a continued presence of light skin marking, thrip damage, sap staining as well as light neck creasing viewed in some displays etc .
Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50/kg.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 34, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 362,486 tray equivalents, approximately 123,000 less than the previous week. Interesting, the quantity of bulks/processing/other volume has also decreased at just over 101,000 tray equivalents which leaves 261,000 trays (mix of premium and class one) for supermarket and market sales - so a tightening of supply with respects to suitable sizing and quality grading. The current supply situation is expected to continue for a few weeks and may further tighten as NQ and Central Qld wind down.
Production across the country saw North Queensland’s level of production maintain the lead in harvest volumes with 25.05% of total production; Central Queensland accounting for 19.99% of the national production followed next by a growing contribution from Central NSW for 16.87%; and WA/NT for 11.88%; Southern QLD for 11.11%; NZ for 10.63%; Tristate for 2.12%; TNR for 1.63% and Sunshine Coast accounting for 0.71% of the total production for the week.
It is forecast that a total of some 390,520 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 35) nationally, with the majority of these being Hass! Total avocado production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within a somewhat lower range of 426K-461K tray equivalents per week but are expected to be lower as both NQ and Central Qld seasons come to a close.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing as follows - Aldi with Hass retailing at $1.69ea on promo as featured in their catalogue this week whilst GMAX were at $2.49 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at $2.20ea; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $2.20ea and Gmax Avo for $2.90/piece.
