BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for week 24 were approximately 430,000 cartons which saw a slight decrease of 30,000 cartons on Week 23. Temperatures in the far north have seen early A.M. temperatures fall within a range of 11.8 - 20.5C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 20.3 - 25.6C. Rainfall in North Qld banana growing regions this week were as follows: Mareeba receiving 21.2mm for the week; Innisfail receiving a total of a 145mm and South Johnston receiving 30.6mm throughout the week. With the rain comes growth, provided the nights are not too cool.
Banana Quality was better than last week, minimal skin marking; light rub and some dull fruit but on the whole a good show.
Retail ticket pricing in Queensland for cavendish bananas were relatively stable as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.50/kg in the stores visited.
It would be remiss of me not to make mention of Denis Howe of Howe Farming, who sadly passed away last week, Denis will long be remembered as somewhat of a leader in the Banana Industry. He will be missed.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
· Week 24, 2025 - The industry experienced an overall 8.51% increase in production on the previous week’s harvest with this weeks total of 479,604 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 40,000 more tray equivalents) on Week 23, 2025 production.
Production across the country saw NQ still confidently leading in production - accounting for 59.65% of the total volume, followed by Central Queensland accounting for 37.21%, then Southern Queensland for just 1.72%, then Central NSW for just 0.85%; and TNR 0.56% of the total production for the week.
· It is forecast that a total of some 422,783 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 25) nationally, with the majority of these being Hass!! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 328K-387K tray equivalents per week, which would suggest supply is tightening a little.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week we saw fundamentally a uniform offering in terms of pricing this week as follows - Aldi’s Hass at $1.49each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos priced at 2 for $3, and Woolworths Qld with GMAX at $2.50ea and Hass at $1.50ea.
