🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for Week 19 were just over 460,000 cartons which is almost 7000 fewer than the week prior.. Temperatures in the far north are similar to be last week with early A.M. temperatures falling within a range of 16.2 - 22.4C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 24.2 - 28.6C. North Qld banana growing regions experienced rainfalls as follows: Mareeba receiving 0.2mm for the week to date; Walkamin with 0.4mm; the coastal regions had a lighter fall this week with Innisfail having falls totaling 96.6mm and South Johnston totaling 110.4mm across the week.
We are seeing the impact of the wet weather throughout a number of Banana displays with a continued presence of sooty/blotchy mould present, somewhat dull fruit, light skin marking, thrip damage, sap staining etc .
Queensland major retailers had bananas priced as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $3.99/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.00/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at $4.00/kg.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
Week 19, 2025 - Avocado production for this week reached 376,578 tray equivalents, approximately 65,000 less than the previous week.
Production across the country saw North Queensland maintain the lead with 66.10% of production with the principal variety now being suppled being hass; Central Queensland accounting for 27.08% of the national production followed next; then WA/NT accounting for 5.32%; then Central NSW for 0.61%; then Southern QLD for 0.52% and Sunshine Coast for 0.36% of the total production for the week.
It is forecast that a total of some 429,111 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 20) nationally, with the majority of these now being Hass though the actual figure may be down considering the rain being experienced in some areas! Total avocado production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 405K-434K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week, we saw pricing as follows - Aldi had Hass at $1.99 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at 2 for $4.00 each; and Woolworths were retailing Hass at $2.50 each- some Woolworths stores also had the Green Skins Gmax Avo also for $2.50/piece. Seeing a little nodule damage within some displays and also the motley skin colour of the hass as it ripens.

Ct 25 Hass Avocados priced at 2 for $4.00. Fruit supplied mainly by Freshmax (Ferraro Farming) packed 30th April so fruit age is 13 days; also a few Costa pieces and one other grower.

Fruit packed dates between front which was predominantly eat now 23rd April so fruit was 20 days old; and on the reverse 30th April to 5th May so fresher fruit 8 to 13 days of age.
